Hall Construction Services Limited were appointed the contract to design and build a new warehouse, offices and car park in order to move a large sign manufacturing company W.Smith Signs from the town centre of Barnard Castle to a heavily trafficked industrial estate.
The scheme comprised the full excavation of the whole site and brought back to line and level with 6F2 and Type 1 sub base material. The warehouse was constructed using a structural steel frame with cladding profile sheets. Surrounding 3 sides a block work wall was built to protect the cladding and for safety of wagon and forklift truck movements. To one side of the warehouse a two storey office, toilets and welfare facilities conference room were built with all new services organised and coordinated by Halls. New electrical roller shutter doors with new lower concrete ramps formed for unloading and loading of materials onto HGV’s dock levellers. Due to the level differences across the site brick retaining walls were constructed within the foundations of the new building to allow for the 2m ground level difference between the two ends of the building.
Hall Construction Services Limited using all of its own management, plant and operatives carried out the ground works including concrete works, kerbing, foul and surface water drainage, block paving and car park works.
